Format

• Round-robin tournament – 8 players per section group (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2)
• 7 rounds played over 7 weeks, 1 round per week, no byes
• Finalists from each section group will then play a two-game match to determine each section’s winner
• The winner of Section A will be the 2023 City Champion

Time Control

• Section A G85+0 (85 minutes of time per player, with no increment)
• Sections B, C & D G80+0 (80 minutes of time per player, with no increment)

Prizes

Rules

• Touch-move rule
• Clocks will be started at the scheduled times, whether or not opponent has arrived
• Cell phones must be off/ringer set to silent
• Please use common sense and good sportsmanship to settle any discrepancies before calling for an arbiter
• In the event an arbiter is needed, stop clock before calling for one
• Penalty for an infraction is 2 minutes added to opponent’s clock, at arbiter’s discretion

• Entry fee is $20, or $15 if you played in the qualifier, payable via cash at the club to Gerry Litchfield or e-transfer to HARDIK.HO@gmail.com on or before Sept 07th, 2023
• If you choose to e-transfer, please include the player name(s) and event in the message
• Late entry will NOT be accepted
• Please arrive early for scheduled rounds, club doors open at 5:30 pm
• Do NOT bring your own chess set! We will be using official club sets!
• PLEASE still BRING your CLOCK!
