Format
- Swiss-system tournament
- 6 rounds played over 3 weeks, 2 rounds per week
- Accelerated pairings is used for the first two rounds
- Up to 2 half-point byes can be requested for Rounds 1-4. Please let the TD know as soon as possible if a round cannot be played

- Prize Money amounts are based on the number of participants, announced at the start of the second tournament day
- Participants are limited to one award only
- Ties are broken using Buchholz Cut 1, with up to 3 additional tie-break systems being used before resorting to splitting prize money
Rules
- Touch-move rule
- Clocks will be started at the scheduled times, whether or not opponent has arrived
- Cell phones must be off/ringer set to silent
- Please use common sense and good sportsmanship to settle any discrepancies before calling for an arbiter
- In the event an arbiter is needed, stop clock before calling for one
- Penalty for an infraction is 2 minutes added to opponent’s clock, at arbiter’s discretion

Registration

- Entry fee is $10, or $25 total if playing in the Championship Tournament as well. (A separate registration date for the Championship Tournament is scheduled for September 7th, 2023 and the entry fee then will be $20 if not participating in the Championship Qualifier)
- Entry fee is payable via cash at the club to Gerry Litchfield or e-transfer to HARDIK.HO@gmail.com on or before August 10th, 2023
- If you choose to e-transfer, please include the player name(s) and event in the message
- Late entry will be accepted until 10 minutes before the start of Round 4. A late fee of $5 must be paid on top of the registration fee
- Please arrive early for scheduled rounds, club doors open at 5:30 pm
- Please bring your own chess set and clock!
